The former President of Sierra Leone Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma will be issuing a formal statement on the Governance Transition Report which was launched by current president, H.E. Bio, yesterday July 4th 2018. This was revealed to this newspaper by one of his assistants who said the former president was not at all worried over the allegations of corruption and other nefarious vices thrown at him by the Bio regime. He described the allegations as “complete nonsense” adding that, “every single one of the allegations specifically against President Koroma, is nonsense, just nonsense”.
“Former President Koroma is having a relaxing time on vacation but he will take a few moments to issue out a statement to deny the allegations,” the assistant stated.
Koroma who is Chairman and Leader of the main opposition All Peoples Congress (APC) party was accused, amongst other APC stalwarts, of perpetuating corruption on a grand scale.
However, APC Scribe Alhaji Dr. Osman Foday Yansaneh has described the Report of the ruling SLPP Government Transition Report (GTR) as “a complete failure with too many errors” that was deliberately prepared by the SLPP Government Transition Team to intimidate and witch-hunt the good work of the Government of former President Ernest Bai Koroma.
According to the report endorsed by His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio, there was astonishing level of fiscal indiscipline and rampant corruption by the former APC Government of President Ernest Bai Koroma.
Based on these claims in the Transition Report, Ambassador Dr. Osman Foday Yansaneh on behalf of the APC party has condemned the SLPP Government Transition Report and has referred to it as conscious efforts by President Bio to falsely paint former President Koroma and the APC party wrongly.
He made this statement in an exclusive chat with Awareness Times Newspaper yesterday 4th July 2018, whilst commenting on the position of the party on the ruling SLPP Government Transition Report.
Ambassador Yansaneh said that the APC party considers the Transition Report presented by the Chief Minister to President Bio as a complete witch-hunt and political intimidation on officials of the former government of President Koroma.
Ambassador Yansaneh added that the Transition Report also seeks to divert the attention of the general public from the dreadful performance of President Bio’s 100 days in Governance. The APC Scribe has so far rated the performance of the ruling SLPP Government as a complete failure.
“The Chief Minister and other members of the Transition Team stated that our previous APC led Government was engaged in massive corruption,” said Ambassador Dr. Yansaneh, adding that the Transition Report further seeks to put a travel ban on all those whose names are mentioned in the report. It urges for APC persons named, to seek travel clearance from the office of the Attorney General’s before they are allowed to travel out of the country. Ambassador Yansaneh has considered this travel ban as huge violations to the right to Freedom of Movement as enshrined in section 18 (1) Chapter 111 Act No. 6 of the 1991 constitution. He went further to say that the APC party has already established a committee to look into the Transition Report. He assures that the outcome of the Committee will be presented to members of the public.
Yansaneh concluded by saying that the APC party remains committed to peace and that the party will strongly resist any attempt by the SLPP party to intimidate former President Koroma and officials of the previous APC Government.
