Today, my heart is broken.
I received the painful news of the passing of Comrade Alhaji Minkailu Mansaray, National Chairman of the All People’s Congress (APC) and since that moment, I have struggled to find the right words. Some deaths are painful, but some deaths leave wounds that words cannot heal. This is one of those moments.
The APC family has lost a father. We have lost a leader. We have lost a man whose life was dedicated to the service of our party and the people of Sierra Leone. It is difficult to believe that Comrade Alhaji Minkailu Mansaray is no longer with us. It is difficult to accept that the voice we listened to, the face we respected and the leader we looked up to has now gone silent forever.
Today, tears are flowing across our party. Hearts are heavy. Many of us are struggling to accept this painful reality. Only yesterday, we spoke of the future. Only yesterday, we discussed the progress of our beloved APC. Only yesterday, we looked forward to seeing him continue his service to the party he loved so much. But today, death has taken him away from us.
Comrade Alhaji Minkailu Mansaray was more than a National Chairman. He was a symbol of dedication, loyalty, commitment and sacrifice. Through difficult times and challenging moments, he remained steadfast. He stood firmly for the APC and worked tirelessly to strengthen and unite our party. His contributions cannot be measured by words alone. His footprints are everywhere within our party and his legacy will remain for generations to come.
As I sit here reflecting on this terrible loss, my thoughts go to his family. I can only imagine the pain they are feeling today. Losing a loved one is never easy. Losing a father, a husband, a brother and a friend leaves a pain that no words can truly heal. My prayers are with them during this dark and difficult hour.
To the entire APC family across Sierra Leone and beyond, I extend my deepest condolences. Today, we mourn together. Today, we cry together. Today, we remember a man who gave so much of himself to our party and our nation.
Death has taken him from our sight, but it can never take away the memories he leaves behind. His service will be remembered. His sacrifices will be remembered. His leadership will be remembered. His name will be remembered.
Comrade Alhaji Minkailu Mansaray, thank you for your service. Thank you for your dedication. Thank you for the countless sacrifices you made for our beloved APC.
Sleep well, Chairman.
Sleep well, Comrade.
Sleep well, great son of Sierra Leone.
You have fought your fight. You have played your part. You have left your mark.
Gone too soon.
Gone with our tears.
Gone with our prayers.
But never, never forgotten.
May the Almighty Allah forgive your shortcomings, grant you Jannatul Firdaus and give strength and comfort to your family, loved ones, friends and the entire APC family during this painful time.
