Ghana’s Black Satellites fought from behind to down Sierra Leone 2-1 to advance to the final round of the 2015 African Youth Championship qualifiers on a 4-1 aggregate.
The visitors stunned the home fans at the Tamele Sports Stadium when Ibrahim Konte bent a wonderful free-kick to beat Mutawakilu in the Ghana post in the 29th minute.
But a moment of brilliance inspired by Granada CF youth team player Clifford Aboagye saw Right to Dream talented attacker Thomas Agyepong halved the scoring for Ghana with half-time approaching.
Latif Abubakari sealed the win for Sellas Tetteh’s boys when he razored a neat low drive past a stranded Sierra Leonean keeper early in the second half.
Sellas Tetteh had the chance to field Spain-based Clifford Aboagye who won the Bronze Shoe at the 2013 edition of the FIFA U20 World Cup while Hearts of Oak defender Owusu Bempah captained the side.
The Satellites failed to settle in the opening half hour allowing the border neighbours to disrupt the game plan of former world champions.
The Ghana dug-out looked on belief as Sierra Leone snatched the lead from a wonderful free-kick but Agyepong restored parity before Latif cemented victory early in the second half.
Ghana await the winner of the Rwanda-Gabon clash.

Sierra Leone U20 captain Ishmail Kamara has admitted his side lost to a better side in Ghana after the Black Satellites fought from behind to brush them aside in the second-leg of the African Youth Champions qualifier on Saturday.
The Young Leone Stars took a first-half lead through an Ibrahim Konte well-steered free-kick in the 29th minute but Ghana fought strongly from behind to equalise through U17 graduate Thomas Agyepong before Latif Abubakari sealed the win to send Ghana through on a 4-1 aggregate.
Despite crashing out on a heartbreaking note, captain Kamara feels the 2009 World Champions were stronger than his side.
“We did everything we could and took the lead but they fought back and won the game. It was a good game,” he said in the post-match interview to an Asempa FMcommentator.
Ghana will face the winner of the Rwanda-Gabon clash in the last phase of the qualifiers.
