A vitriolic social media activist, MEMUNA RAPPEL, who has been ranting against the opposition All People’s Congress ( APC ) and anybody who criticizes the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP ) and President Maada Bio has turned against the SLPP and President Bio.
In a surprising audio that has gone viral on social media, Memuna Rappel accused her own government that it is not taking care of the people, even the disabled, but government ministers and officials have gone and rented massive mansions that the government is paying for. The taxpayers are footing the bills for their expensive living habits and money is scanty and cannot go around. She said that SLPP officials fail to realize that if only they had been living within their means, all these expenditure would not have been there.
It is all waste.. wastefulness, She ranted in Krio. She talked about a ministry she could not name that went and rented a big building and paying lots of dollars for it every month.
Memuna Rapel complained that the SLPP Government has conferences everyday which involve a lot of spending and big cooking and feasting after which they take pappy show photos to bluff with on social media . “That is all we see, no improvement. Since they came to power, they have done nothing. “
“ Since they have started bombarding me, I am also going to start bombarding them too everyday and I will set people secretly behind them to record everything they are doing so that I will be scrutinizing and exposing them “, she threatened. ‘“I am going back to doing what I have been doing, recording my audios . I am going to be bombarding them and putting them before the firing squad. “
Memuna Rappel complained bitterly against the price increases of almost everything by the SLPP Government. Everyday, prices are going up . Rice price has gone up. Passport price has gone up. There is no food in the country, but everyday, they stage parties where they waste money. Some people who were living here in England and used to ride buses have gone to Sierra Leone and because they say they are ministers they now prefer to drive in long convoys , wasting petrol and money unnecessarily. All the people you see running behind them are paid money . It is not for nothing. Government has to buy petrol for all the vehicles “ .
Memuna Rappel said she could not understand why SLPP would not cut their coats according to their size. “ Why all these long convoys of vehicles ? A minister’s wife is driving. She needs convoy. This other person going needs a convoy too. Everybody has convoys. Our Prime Minister in England would be passing by and you would not even hear. Just his vehicle with a public omnibus driving ahead of him and just one police car. But President Bio would be driving to work and he is at Congo Cross and his convoy would be stretching all the way to Lumley. Why ? Why ? What is all that for ? It is clear nonsense and waste . And after that, they put on suits and come to the West to beg for aid. And after acting beggars in the West, they go about home and resort to their convoys and ostentatious lifestyle ( GBIRI-GBARA ) . ‘’
A minister’s work is not about lifestyle, the woman went on. “ It is about serving the people. Our ministers in England are walk . They are on top of bicycles meeting the people. In Sierra Leone, ministers do not want to walk. They do not want to meet the people. They do not even want to meet their constituents. They are in their offices and they do not want to move around. “
Memuna Rappel condemned MPs who had been elected in their villages and since then had never gone back to find out how their people were doing. “All this must stop” , she exclaimed. “It needs to stop. “
