SUPPORTERS DISRUPT MATCH
By Kabs Kanu
East End Lions supporters today invaded the pitch and disrupted their team’s Sierra Leone Premier League match against Bai Bureh Warriors at the Port Loko Playing Field.
Visiting Lions were leading the home team 1-0 towards the end of the match when one of the Bai Bureh players was brought down in the penalty box and the referee immediately awarded a penalty kick to the Warriors.
Protesting Lions supporters rushed into the pitch despite efforts by their coaches, team officials and security personnel to push them back. The referee was seen being attacked and his assailants being arrested and being led out of the grounds.
As passions escalated and the invaders refusing to leave the pitch, Police also escorted the referee to a parked van and were later seen driving him out of the field, bringing the high-tension match to an abrupt end.
This is the first match in the new season that has ended in chaos . The Football Association will decide what actions to take to serve as a deterrent to unruly fans.

- Percy CrowtherReverend your silence on the “unruly fans” of Manchester United is deafening. Do you think Liverpool should be awarded the points since it was Manchester United’s uncontrollable fans that led to the match not being played?
