Santhkie Bangura; a graduate in international Politics
with American Studies. A mortgage broker and civil
society activist had this to say about Presidential
hopeful and leader of the APC party the Hon. Ernest
Bai Koroma; regarding unsubstantiated claims from the
group “Friends of Berewa”.
KOROMA.
My fellow Sierra Leoneans. We have come a long way
through thick and thin to be complacent about what our
contemporary political history has taught us vis a vis
our capacity to learn from mistakes connected with our
immediate past. Without airing that gruesome past
which as it turns out is etched on every facet of our
daily lives, it is therefore incumbent in us as a
nation to put aside petty partisan
poly-tricks(survival patronage) and just for once put
the national interest first!
economic problems we face that many of us (scratched
beneath the surface) wittingly or unwittingly
contributed to. We can disagree on this one but the
fact is until we start thinking not just for what ‘I’
can benefit in the short term but rather what ‘I’ can
do in the short term for the benefit of the long term;
then we will not have exorcised the devil that
plagued this land not too long ago.
our conscience does not agree with; but for short term
gain we insulate our sense of reasoning with
justification that would only rubber stamp our
preferred outcome. It’s OK to be critical of our
leaders including Ernest Koroma. What is not OK is:
Critiquing for the sake of it. When you have no clear
objectives or to be precise, murky intentions, the
message is lost in a maze of conflicting interests.
something wanting in his person or his professional
life then the public have a right to know. The only
contrast here is the connection to disgraced former
power broker Jamil Sahid is without merit. During that
rather forgotten era of Sierra Leone political
history, everyone who is anyone must rub shoulders
with Jamil. To say Ernest is a disciple of Siaka
Stevens is laughable. A case in point: Let me go back
to history. In 1977 Ernest Koroma the college graduate
was not given the All Peoples Congress symbol to run
as a member of parliament. Why? Nar bor-bor (not old
enough). To claim Ernest was mentored by Pa Shaki is
dead wrong. That old man (Pa shaki) was not
comfortable with power in the hands of young and
dynamic men. A sharp contrast with Ernest Koroma as
leader of the NEW APC. I say new with capitals
deliberately because the party has evolved into a
party that truly reflects the hope and aspirations of
not just its supporters but also gained the respect
and admiration of others. Major milestones in policy
shifts from the old APC is credited to Ernest.
the APC party is made easier in one hand by the SLPP:
(PILFERING POLITICIANS) OF THE PAST, ABSORBED THEM AND
PERFECTED THEM IN CORRUPTION. Of-course in connivance
with its very own (SLPP) brand of cleptocracy. On the
other hand, a rebirth of the party is in effect
unraveling under his watch despite legal challenges to
his leadership. History will judge him as the come
back kid…just like Clinton.
On those fabricating stories about APC party leader
and presidential hopeful The Honorable Ernest Bai
Koroma, Pa Santhkie had this to say.
FRIENDS OF BEREWA: WITH FRIENDS LIKE THESE, WHO NEEDS
(POLITICAL) ENEMIES? Certainly not the APC!
The old adage: Tell me your friends, then I will tell
you who you are. The company you keep reflects the
content of your character. If you sleep with dogs, you
will wake up with fleas. This connotation rings
especially true with one particular looser that claims
patronage to vice president Berewa and his so called
Friends of Berewa group.
This man (name withheld for now) is a seasoned
looser!Ask me how? And be prepared to be nauseatingly
embarrassed to be even remotely linked to this
degenerate who doubles as a celebrated sycophant as
well as a thug for hire.
This man started his roller coaster of personal
failures from the nation’s premier institution of
higher learning. While many of us dream of darkening
the doors of Fourabay College, others in the likes of
this man quickly manifested his capacity to fail and
drop out where many of us can only dream of going.
What a waste of national resources!
One does not imply here that dropping out of college
means total failure. Hey, President Clinton dropped
out before he became great. For many who drop out due
to reasons beyond their control such as financial
hardship, the experience, though demoralizing; but can
foster an iron will to prove one can succeed in life
in-spite of that. This thesis would have been
unnecessary had this man redeemed himself from
revolving failure as a result of this experience.
Sadly he did not! Instead, dropping out served as a
precursor to endless under-achievement. Compounded by
misplaced ego and the need to prove he is educated
when the reality is an open book! Or in his case a
closed book.
All is not lost (or so it seemed) when dad shipped
this man to the land of milk and honey! God’s own
country, the USA a dream land for many, with renowned
institutions of higher learning and civilization at
its best. All these have no impact on this man. His
prehistoric hunting and gathering skills remain
paramount; as seen in his opportunistic liaison with
Solo-B and co…as a lying, snitching, thug for hire.
Interesting to learn the target for his uncanny
deception happens to be a complete opposite and far
removed from anything to do with failure. His target
went to the same FBC and passed with flying colors. He
then proceeded into business and graced that industry
with trailblazing success.
the politics of this nation now without mention of his
name as the charismatic leader of the (APC)
opposition, leaves a high visibility blank. A blank
this nation can ill-afford! The very reason why his
good name and character will outlive san san boys
like Saidu Bangura, temporarily located in Atlanta, Georgia. A social misfit on the run for debts he owe
to members of the Sierra Leone community in the
Washington metro area. A man of no fixed abode and on
the back foot from US immigration.
Friends of Berewa, what are friends for? Saidu
certainly needs help!!
