If the opposition had not accepted the fake Bintumani peace Conference , or allowed its MPs and council members to return and if they had not signed the Tripartite documents and had stood firm that the 2023 elections results be rejected, Maada Bio would have been out of power today. The measures first adopted by the APC were very effective. Maada Bio was not in power or in control and it looked that a foreign intervention was becoming more likely. The U.S never congratulated Bio and they blocked the MCC Compact and imposed a travel ban.
If the APC had made Sierra Leone ungovernable by refusing to participate in governance and had pressed home her rejection of the fake results , why would Maada Bio be in power today ?
APC had the support of the international community when the brouhaha over Maada Bio’s criminal robbery of the elections started. The APC had a very good case for ELECTORAL JUSTICE and you could see that even the U.S and the EU supported them. The international elections observer organizations were busy condemning the elections and muddying the waters for Maada Bio. It was very clear that Dr. Samura Kamara won the 2023 elections and should have been President.
But all of a sudden, we started hearing about about a peace conference that the APC itself had agreed to attend and that MPs and councillors were returning ——and that was where the whole election was lost. APC should have stood on their ground that the former criminal electoral commissioner Mohamed Konneh should release the disaggregated results from the polling stations. How could the party have accepted these subterranean moves by the SLPP , without the election results ? And uptill today, no elections results had been announced or published.
It is very important to rehash these facts because we forget easily in Sierra Leone lek people den wey den do. And we seek scapegoats when it is we ourselves who sold out and goofed it. We are not in power today because we gave it away . We cannot blame our own comrades and continue disuniting the party further when we were the very ones who sold put to Maada Bio. We say we fear the wrath of the international community but this is bunkums and a hoax and lie. Why is Maada Bio continuing to defy the international community and nothing is coming out of it. He is doing it and not only getting away with it but being rewarded for it. That was just a lame excuse to cover our cowardice, spinelessness, treachery , lack of commitment to our party , lack of testicular fortitude and lack of seriousness and motivation for power.
Now, having been given power by the APC for a second time in a row, the SLPP is now seeking to elevate their criminal power grab to spectacular levels . They are now planning to make Sierra Leone a one party state. Obnoxious, villainous and reprehensible as it is, the SLPP will succeed again if we do not start screaming at this present hopeless APC leadership. Every APC member from the grassroots to the vanguard must start putting extraordinary pressure on our executive not to sell out again or Maada Bio will get away with another criminality.
Why is it only now that the SLPP is seeking a new clause in the constitution to impose power- sharing ? Why did they not share power with the APC when they first grabbed power in 2018. It is obvious that this is another Machiavellian machination to hold on to power, knowing that they will lose the 2028 elections. But will the APC wait, then betray themselves, allow Maada Bio to succeed again and then become wise after the event ( Try to shut the stable door after the horse has bolted ) ?
The APC must vigorously reject any move by the SLPP to rig the next elections, or impose a one- party state or a power- sharing clause in the constitution .
Many people will again begin casting nervous glances to the international community to help. What they do not know is that whatever the opposition accepts or surrenders to is what the international community abides by. They will note dictate. The international community wants to support the APC but they cannot be more serious and resolute than us, lest they be rightly accused of interfering in the internal affairs of a sovereign state.
The APC must stop its soft responses to Maada Bio’s continuous violations and tinkering with the people’s rights , democracy, the constitution and the rule of law. We have conceded too much to this dictator and power abuser. It is time now to stand up to Maada Bio and say ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.
WE DON’T WANT POWER- SHARING.
WE DON’T WANT ONE-PARTY STATE.
WE WANT THE APC TO BE GIVEN WHAT THEY HAVE WON.
