Weekend SLFA NEWS-DAWN OF A NEW ERA: THE MAGIC OF CHILDREN.
Driving home from the SLFA Secretariat in Kingtom last Friday evening, the FA President, Madam Isha Johansen was besieged by a mob of kids (between the ages 9 and 13, who spotted her driving slowly around the kingtom grounds watching the kids play.
Visibly concerned for their safety, as they raced across the streets to meet her oblivious to cars and motor riders, Madam Johansen refused to come down her car, but instead convinced the kids that she would return with an officer who could help assemble them in an orderly fashion.
She gave two of the captains aged 10, a ride in her car to assure the swelling numbers of kids that she would return.
Upon her return, she spoke a few words about the love of the game but most importantly the importance of education. They all assured her that they were in school.
The kids were all given some money which Madam said was their weekend football money, and invited the captains of the team to the academy to discuss a youth football gala for the kingtom kids.
On leaving the vicinity, Madam Johansen responded by saying, “Nothing beats the innocent unconditional love you receive from a child… Its magical.”
This was an unexpected and unforgettable visit for the kids of kingtom and hopefully a pleasant weekend for them too.
