Permanent Rep. Adikalie Foday Sumah calls staff individually to thank them for helping to make UN General Assembly successful

Sierra Leone’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Adikalie Foday Sumah, has called members of his staff  individually to thank them  for working cooperatively with him to help make the 71st Session of the UN General Assembly successful.

When  he arrived on Monday September 5, 2016 to take up his appointment, Ambassador Sumah stressed at the JFK International Airport after stepping off his plane  the virtues of cooperative team work.

Since then, he  has been impressing it on the staff of the Permanent Mission to Sierra Leone to the United Nations in New York that many hands working together in unison to achieve the common purpose and objectives for being in the Mission was the only route to success . The ambassador stated that one of his  objectives was  to foster an amicable and fruitful working relationship with all members of the  diplomatic staff and ruling party while executing his assignment in the U.S. This, he emphasized, will be achieved when staff and all concerned worked together to fulfill their mission in New York.

Ambassador Sumah also stressed that his tenure as PR  would be marked by an atmosphere of transparency and accountability.

It was in harmony with these objectives that the Ambassador felt the imperative of calling members of his staff individually to thank them for their efforts in helping to make UNGA 71  successful.

In thanking Minister Plenipotentiary , Leeroy Wilfred Kabs-Kanu , for his own efforts, the Ambassador said that the government media did an outstanding job in their coverage of the UNGA and President Koroma’s activities while here for the General Assembly.

To ensure much more success with future UNGAs, Ambassador Sumah said he is going to conduct a post mortem on this year’s General Assembly and has directed the Minister Plenipotentiary, in his capacity as head of information and public affairs at the Mission,  to conduct this post mortem through interviews with the Deputy Permanent Representative for Legal Affairs, Ambassador Felix Allie Koroma, the DPR for Political Affairs, Ambassador Amadu Koroma ,  the administrative staff and the community at large ( Both partisan and non-partisan ) to get feed backs that would be useful in making future UNGAs more successful.

The ambassador urged that the non-partisan views be published so that “We know where we excelled and where we fell short to demonstrate our desire and commitment to make things even better “.
