PUBLIC STATEMENT FROM THE NATIONAL CIVIL LIBERTY MOVEMENT (NCLM).
The attention of the National Civil Liberty Movement, has been drawn to a press release issued by the National Commission of Inquiry Secretariat, dated 17th December 2018.
The National Civil Liberty Movement is unequivocally condemning the anachronistic and inciting contents on the statement circulated by the secretariat of the Commission of Inquiry.
The National Civil Liberty Movement is utterly opposed to the request made by the National Commission of Inquiry Secretariat, as they are demanding from the public to assisting them with any relevant information, against people who would be facing the Commission of inquiry.
This requests is totally inconsistent with what the SLPP government transition report of 2018, has purportedly published, it has rendered the GTT report doubtful and full of errors.
The National Civil Liberty Movement views the request made by the commission for submission of documents to the Commission of Inquiry, as being politically motivated and deliberate influencing to maliciously and surreptitiously revealing fake documents to victimize and punish innocent people who are political targets and opponents.
The National Civil Liberty Movement sees these actions by the Commission of Inquiry secretariat, as a grand plan for witch hunting, injustice and recipe for social resentment.
This is completely premature and outrightly inimical to the peace and society of the country, taken into consideration the divisive political nature and pervasive hatred in the minds of politicians in the country.
The National Civil Liberty Movement is strongly in support of the fight against graft and corruption, but the fight against corruption must not be shrouded to protecting tribal and political cronies, as sacred cows.
Wherein selective justice will be used to oppress and degrade opposition APC political actors.
The National Civil Liberty Movement vehemently condemns the aspect of expunging the rules of evidence in sections 6, (1)&(2), of the Constitutional instruments.
This is a clear contravention of section 150 of the 1991 constitution of the Republic of Sierra Leone.
The National Civil Liberty Movement is calling on the SLPP government, to take into consideration the recommendations made by opposition political parties members of parliament in the well of parliament.
Whereas, the MPs calls on the government to include the permanent secretaries and directors of government agencies and departments to be investigated by the Commission of Inquire.
These government officials are perceived to be most corrupt and pro SLPP party agents, who are said to have siphoned billions of government moneys, to funding the 2018, elections campaign of the SLPP party.
The National Civil Liberty Movement is urging the general public and the International community, to closely monitor the human rights violations motive, unconstitutional manner and selective justice nature, in which the Commission of Inquiry has been designed to be micromanaged.
The National Civil Liberty Movement is speedily urging the ICC to turn it radar to Sierra.
Long live the rule of law. Long live justice for all.
