Rabid SLPP sycophants are asking : “What will APC say when President Bio completes the Lungi Airport reconstruction ? “
I will not only tell you what the APC will say . I will tell you what the nation will say. The remodeling of Lungi Airport will not remove the shame brought on himself and the SLPP by President Bio when they cancelled a glorious brand-new State-of- the art international airport that would have brought our nation more dividends and respect with a fake Lungi Bridge project they never delivered.
The upgrade on Lungi is a damage control exercise that will never cover the SLPP’s shame , once they failed to construct the bridge and travellers will still have to go through the excruciating hazards of crossing a dangerous sea stretch on unsafe, crowded and uncomfortable ferries and dingy boats which the APC plan would have eliminated by providing a bigger, better and more beautiful and ideally situated international airport close to the city, without any hazardous and dangerous sea crossing .
Nothing SLPP does at Lungi can take away the fact that you cancelled a magnificent project and promised to replace it with a lofty over-the- sea bridge project which turned out to be the biggest scam in our nation since its founding.
Nothing will exonerate SLPP’s foolishness when it is discovered that the cost of remodeling Lungi is so exorbitant that it did not make a difference from what could have been spent on a new, State-of- the art airport at Mammamah.
SLPP displayed a shameless narcissistic , self- servicing, jealous spirit by cancelling the Mammamah International Airport because they childishly did not want to face the prospect that the airport would have given credit to the APC for conceiving it. They wanted to beat the APC to it with the phantom Lungi Bridge project but failed woefully, and to cover their shame , they decided to remodel the old airport which is not ideally situated and travellers will still go through the dangers of crossing the sea to get to the capital.
Mammamah International would have provided not only a new, ultra- modern airport but a new megacity and a new socioeconomic hub that would have been an expansion of our already overcrowded capital. There would have been no need for what town planning experts are suggesting– Build a new capital city. Your selfish, self- serving, jealous and childish spirit deprived our country of an infrastructural masterpiece and a new city .It also deprived our nation of a big jump in tourism and investments.
SLPP’s shame will be accentuated when the APC returns to power and revives the Mammamah International Airport project. Mammamah is not dead . It has just been delayed by a selfish and childish junta that thinks only of itself and not the national interest.
You will think SLPP will get credit but Sierra Leoneans are no longer stupid and naive. They will always know that the Lungi remodeling was just a damage limitation exercise after ” making big mouth ” about the Lungi Bridge and shamefully failing to deliver.
