Politics is not a secret society like Bondo or Poro.
Politics should be open and political parties should keep their supporters fully abreast with everything they plan and do.
After all, it is the people who vote for them and it is the people they serve. No people, no politics. That is why it is gratifying to hear that Dr. Samura Kamara will be addressing the nation today on the way forward for the APC.
Rumors are spreading that Samura Kamara wants to sell out to Maada Bio.
We at COCORIOKO doubt the rumors because the only problems Samura Kamara has are he is too honest, too clean- hearted and he does not know how to lie or be deceitfut. Until we are proved wrong, he will never allow Maada Bio to corrupt him as he did to Kandeh Yumkella, who has no mind of his own and is pliable and was tossed around and ruined by the Paopa wind of deceit. We trust that Samura Kamara will steady the ship on Sunday. Let us give him chance to prove his critics wrong.
The one big problem in the APC is silence but Samura must have learnt now that in the dog-eat – dog politics of Sierra Leone, one cannot be quiet. One has to address all rumors and allegations.
Through his nation – wide address today, APC supporters all over the world, who had felt they were being kept in the dark, will get to know and fully understand where the party stands, with regards to the dialogue with the SLPP soon.
This is good for the APC and we also welcome the press conference at the party headquarters on Monday.
Rumors and unfounded speculations that divide party supporters and lead to fears and recriminations are very undesirable for any political party. We see in America that the Republicans and the Democratic party never go silent. Both parties are very loud and active everywhere that counts.
We know that in Sierra Leone, Maada Bio has destroyed democracy and opposition leaders do not enjoy the freedom to speak and act as in America. Maada Bio will not hesitate to kill any opposition leader who challenges his dictatorship, but Maada Bio’s end will surely come.
No leader in history ever got away with it. Gaddafi, Sadam Hussein, Samuel Doe and others eventually paid the ultimate price. So, Maada Bio and the SLPP will fall. It is just a matter of time.
But meanwhile, APC must remain united and standing very resolute to hold President Bio to account for his elections thieving and misrule. We cannot succumb to Maada Bio or it will be tragic for our nation. So, thanks Dr. SAMURA KAMARA for your commitment to address the nation today. The whole world is looking forward to the address so that we know as a party and people where we stand. No retreat, no surrender.
