Some African leaders have ostensibly rewritten the rules of democracy to cling on to governance and Sierra Leone is no exception.

Prior to the elections in Liberia and Senegal ,conclusion had been made by some democratic jurors and onlookers that democracy was either dying in Africa or massively backsliding and at worst had been sentenced to the gallows as a result of the unapologetic robbery of democracy in other Africa countries and neighboring Sierra Leone.

If I knew the mobile number of Abraham Lincoln who fathered democracy, I would have asked him to join me to bring a class action against those who mutilated and squandered the tenets of democratization in our country.

But never mind. Pointing a torchlight on the outcome of the just concluded elections in Liberia and Senegal one might conclude that these results were a respite and SOLACE for the Lincoln’s VISION and for the pro democratic fans like Alahi Thonkla as Liberia and francophone Senegal have set a superb democratic masterclass rejuvenating fresh hopes and a milestone in Subsaharan West Africa’s democracy.

The smooth transition from one political party to other in Liberia was exceptionally delicious and far from being hostile but exemplary and echoed by the ECOWAS heads of governments of which Chairman HE BOLA Tinubu urged his counterparts to honor the former President of Liberia like welcoming the former leader of the communist Chinese People’s Republic leader Chairman Mao Zedong who discovered today’s China .

Sir George Weah was given a resounding and classical standing ovation that was not only incredibly mesmerizing, finger licking but was eyes popping.

The extraordinary democratic exhibition in both Liberia and Senegal electoral processes were tantamount to Qatar World Cup finale that displayed a golden standard of excellence in footballing history and a remarkable sportsmanship never recently seen.

The outcome of both elections in neighboring Liberia and francophone Senegal have shamed our country’s electoral processes and left us with tails between our feeble legs gazing at the shortcomings in our Elections Management Bodies (EMB’S) from dodgy identity cards to polling day anomalies and announcing the peculiar results that cannot be published for us to freely access information that’s badly needed for verification purposes and hence strengthen the trajectory of transparency and accountability in our democratic dispensation .

Sierra Leone for the wrong reasons must have a pigeonhole in the Guinness Book of Records as we have never stopped short to disappoint the world either to have the worst civil war for no sensible reason , Ebola disaster on record and now we have produced an extraordinarily the worst elections outcome ever.

Only in Sierra Leone, I witnessed when mysteriously the winner of the Presidential elections was announced in the capital city Freetown which is the country’s political heartbeat and economic super base, residents were either traumatized or mortified to jubilate but instead went into a cold mood like the North-pole white-creamy carnivorous large bear astonishingly astonished.

The election results were like a natural mystic air that blew across the country’s political aisles especially in Freetown and those who listened carefully heard the first trumpet and the air was filled with trauma, anxiety, dispassionate and hopelessness as the industrious political (APC) who built Sierra Leone and Presidential Candidate Dr SAMURA Mattew Wilson Kamara destined of clinching the country’s June 2023 elections were democratically robbed, mugged and Western elections Observers were left flabbergasted as under their RED noses democracy in Sierra Leone was snatched and suffered miscarriages in broad daylight.

The June 2023 election was clearly a Referendum designed to put to TEST the President five years flagship policies achievements or credentials on the platter.

Pumped up and overzealous voters came out in huge numbers crashing down polling stations to register their grievances and thus to give the gaffer a bloody RED nose but suddenly their HOPES were dashed left post elections atmosphere dangerously baffling ,weird and likened to a stand up comedy show where the audience didn’t see the jokes funny at all.

The mystic air had been widely blown by NEC and today we are facing the reality . Many more will have to suffer from the pernicious activities of NEC as investors confidence shrunk , prices of goods and services in the marketplace soared and many more have died from our failures to learn from past mistakes that had plunged our country into disaster and outrageously ravaged a tiny country in West Africa causing decades of setback.

If our VOTES are no longer matters to represent our democratic views, then why bother to have an electoral process of which outcome is already in the diary of the gaffer before elections ?

Our democracy is suffering from FLU and likened to a car crashed tumbling down for the scrap yard as we have suffered the biggest miscarriages of our VOTES in the history of a country flip flopping from bulwark of democracy to authoritarian spewing nervousness from Western Allie’s and forcing proponents of democracy to head-scratching as Abraham Lincoln’s democracy was not well served or inequitable in our Lion Mountain of which was once hailed by IMF as the fastest growing economy overtaking all other economies but it is today?
