The People’s Movement For Democratic Change ( PMDC) , the party formed by Charles Margai after he left the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party ( SLPP ) , was registered in Freetown , Sierra Leone today . This officially brings to existence another tough opposition political party , alongside the All People’s Congress ( APC ) , spoiling for a showdown with the ruling SLPP during the 2007 General Elections. Partisans of the PMDC have been jubiliating whole day in Sierra Leone .

It is with great joy that we bring to you the formal existence of Peoples Movement for Democratic Change (PMDC). The party was formally registered this morning in Freetown, there by giving our country a renewed hope towards realizing a prosperous change. We now need to come together as Sierra Leoneans to rally behind this new party and its leader Mr. Charles Margai so that our country can be taken out of the pit of developmental failure that it has been thrown in for over forty years. Sierra Leone belongs to us all and so we all need to join hands in order to get rid of the corrupt leaders and politicians in our country.
