28 PROTESTERS RELEASED AFTER SIX DAYS IN DETENTION THROUGH EFFORTS OF DR. RICHARD KONTEH AND PARTY LEADERS*

In a significant development, 28 protesters arrested at the party headquarters on October 15, 2024, have been released after six days of detention at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) headquarters. The release was made possible through the intervention of senior party members, including Dr. Richard Konteh, Foday Yansanah, and Med K, who took on leadership roles in negotiating their freedom.

The protesters were initially detained following a demonstration at the party’s headquarters, which led to their transfer to the CID. Tensions ran high as concerns grew over their prolonged detention, but Dr. Konteh, often referred to as the “Unifier,” played a critical role in navigating the process that ultimately led to their release. His efforts, alongside those of Yansanah and Med K, underscored the party’s commitment to ensuring justice and fair treatment for its members.

As of today, the protesters are free, and their release has been welcomed by party supporters. This outcome marks a significant step in easing tensions and reaffirming the importance of dialogue in resolving such issues. Dr. Konteh and his team have been praised for their decisive leadership and ability to unite different factions in a peaceful resolution.


Richard Konteh and APC Leaders Secure Bail for 28 Protesters Arrested During Electoral Justice Demonstration

On October 15, 2024, Dr. Richard Konteh, APC leaders Med K and Pa Yanisarh, along with other party members and supporters, accompanied the party leadership to the CID headquarters. Their mission was to secure the release of 28 party supporters who were arrested during a demonstration at the APC headquarters. The protest occurred while the APC was engaging the international community in discussions with the Sierra Leonean government about electoral justice.

The demonstration saw supporters take to the streets, expressing their anger and dissatisfaction with the current electoral process, holding placards calling for electoral justice. After six days in CID custody, Dr. Richard Konteh, who worked tirelessly on behalf of the party and its supporters, successfully secured bail for all 28 detainees 26 men and 2 women.

The protesters expressed their deep gratitude to Dr. Konteh, recognizing his unwavering efforts in fighting for their release and seeking justice for the APC.
