All the chest- beating by university Professor Kelfala Kallon on burning national matters during the Sierra Leone war and during the reign of former President Ernest Koroma of the now opposition All People’s Congress ( APC ) were stinking hypocrisy. Kelfala Kallon is no better than the “criminals ” he condemned. In fact, according to the Inspector General of Police, William Fayiah Sellu, Professor Kallon himself has serious questions surrounding him about honesty .
The one-time respected professor was fired by President Maada Bio from his job as Governor of the Bank of Sierra Leone for destroying the Sierra Leone economy. He fled the country allegedly with a sizable amount of the poor nation’s money and was last seen enjoying his loot dancing calypso in a Caribbean country.
Now, his name has been mentioned in another shameful scandal. According to the Inspector General of Police, Mr. William Fayiah Sellu, Dr. Kelfala Kallon has failed to account for U.S . $34, 000 seized as counterfeit money from a Nigerisn racketeer during the professor’s tenure as Bank Governor.
Though the police chief is saying that the money was counterfeit, it has been disclosed that the money was in fact genuine currency.
This is how shamefully even some of our highly – reckoned intellectuals behave when entrusted to power. They prove themselves no better than the politicians they accuse of criminal acts and economic sabotage.
