BREAKING NEWS
Former President Ernest Bai Koroma has arrived in Sierra Leone to attend the summit of the Economic Community of West African States ( ECOWAS ) being held in Freetown.

The Ex-President was able to return to Sierra Leone as a freeman following the Attorney-General’s decision to discontinue his treason trial. The charges were related to his alleged involvement in the November 2023 attempted coup. This legal withdrawal, approved by parliament, allowed him to travel back home from his medical exile in Nigeria.
Ernest Koroma was invited by President Maada Bio, who is the current Chairman of ECOWAS.
The ECOWAS Mid-Year Statutory Meetings bring together Heads of State and Government, Ministers, senior officials and regional institutions to advance the Community’s shared priorities—peace and security, democratic governance, economic integration, trade, infrastructure and sustainable development.
Hosted in Sierra Leone, the meetings culminate in the 69th Ordinary Session of the Authority of Heads of State and Government, where leaders will take decisions that shape the future of West Africa..
