The chairman of the Economic Community of West African States (Ecowas), President John Mahama of Ghana, today paid a short visit to Ebola-hit Sierra Leone to express solidarity with the nation. According to a statement from ECOWAS, President Mahama will visit the other two countries also ravaged by Ebola and will hold discussions with his counterparts in Sierra Leone, Liberia and Guinea on sub-regional and international interventions.
The Ghanaian Leader was met at the Lungi International Airport by President Ernest Bai Koroma of Sierra Leone. President Mahama donated tons f foodstuffs to Sierra Leone to help offset the hardships being created by the Ebola crisis. The Ghanaian President , in his capacity as Chair of ECOWAS, assured his Sierra Leonean counterpart, President Koroma that anything that could be done will certainly be done to support efforts aimed at containing and managing the outbreak.
