Happy birthday, Mr. President, but there is too much hunger and starvation in the country

ON YOUR BIRTHDAY TODAY, PRESIDENT BIO, THINK ABOUT THE HUNGRY, STARVING SIERRA LEONEANS CRYING FOR ATTENTION IN YOUR NATION

By Kabs Kanu

Today is the birthday of President Maada Bio, one day after his depreciation by CNN. On this auspicious occasion in the life of the President , we hope he will take time to reflect on his stewardship and think about the struggling, hungry citizens he has disappointed with his false and unfulfilled promises.

Mr. President, hunger and suffering have worsened under your regime and spread throughout the nation. The only reason our citizens are continuing to have patience and have not gone into the streets to demonstrate is that they are a resilient people. The general impression among the citizenry is that you are taking this patience and resilience of our people for granted.

Contrary to what you told the CNN, what is most frustrating is that your government is doing nothing to create the enabling environment for our people to provide bread and butter on their families’ tables. Citizens see no commitment in you or your government to improve the economy. The appointment of a criminal as our next Minister of Finance is a graphic demonstration of not only your contempt for our people but your lack of seriousness towards sustainable economic recovery and development.

All you are interested in , Mr. President is political brinksmanship devoted wholly to subverting and thwarting the legitimate aspirations of the opposition All People’s Congress ( APC ) and passing bad, undemocratic laws to help you win the 2023 elections.

As you celebrate another birthday donating growth in age ( I hear you are 57 today ) , Mr. President, let there be corresponding growth in political vision, maturity and commitment to the people you took and oath to deliver from hardship and give serious thoughts to the hunger and suffering raging in our nation .

Please think about your electioneering campaign promises to the people . You have not attended to any of these promises so far.

Happy birthday, Mr. President but do the needful. Address the hunger and suffering in the country or you will find yourself out of job again in 2023.
