Among the serving ministers of government in the Republic of Sierra Leone, the Minister of Political and Public Affairs has been awarded as the most outstanding Public Leader in Sierra Leone for the year 2016. On Thursday 3rd October 2016, the Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Sierra Leone Council of Chief Executives, Mr. Peter SaSellu honoured and recognized the Minister of Political and Public Affairs for her lifelong commitment to the developmental growth of Sierra Leone through her public leadership skills in the transformation of Sierra Leone.
Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Sierra Leone Council of Chief Executives, Mr. Peter SaSellu further said that the award was presented to the Honourable Minister based on merit and her outstanding performance in leadership.
A citation accompanying the award read in part: “ Sierra Leone Leadership Award awarded Nanette Thomas for her outstanding Public Leader of the year 2016 presented by the Sierra Leone council of Chief Executives, the African Council of Chief Executive Inc and the Africa Media Cooperation Inc”
The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Political and Public Affairs, Mr. Israel K. Jigba applauded the organizers for such a magnificent honour and further said that because of the Minister’s resourcefulness, and generosity the Ministry of Political and Public Affairs has now stepped out of the cold due to the vibrant intervention of Hon. Nanette Thomas as she is leading by example and which is why this is just befitting that she is been justly and genuinely awarded and rewarded and he believed that the recognition would spur her on to greater things. The minister, a hugely popular personality in Sierra Leone, is known for her humble disposition and promotion of anything Sierra Leonean.
In her acceptance statement, Hon. Nanette Thomas thanked the organizers for choosing her and dedicated the award to the people of Sierra Leone, her deputy Minister, Hon. Akhmed Femi Mansaray and the staff of the Ministry of Political and Public Affairs
