When he lands in New York tomorrow, the All People’s Congress ( APC ) flagbearer Dr. Samura Kamara will get a taste of the popular support he enjoys as he will be given a massive welcome by Sierra Leoneans desiring a change in the country via the 2023 General Elections to be held in June.
DR . KAMARA AND ENTOURAGE AT LUNGI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT BEFORE BOARDING PLANE
Dr. Samura Kamara, accompanied by a hefty delegation of party big wigs, is arriving at the JFK International Airport in New York tomorrow. In the delegation is expected to be the Deputy APC Chairman Hon. Osman Yansaneh and lead defence attorney for Dr. Kamara, Lawyer Frank Kargbo.
According to reports, the trip is in connection with the Sierra Leone New York United Nations Permanent Mission Chancery court case . Details are sketchy but it is believed that the Judge of the Freetown High Court sitting on the case, Justice Adrian Fisher , lawyers representing both sides of the case and members of the jury are coming to view the alleged scene where prosecutors are alleging that a crime was committed . It is a legal procedure in criminal trials for both the defense and the prosecution to request that juries view a crime scene .
APC supporters all over the world, many Sierra Leoneans and some members of the international community regard the government’s involvement of Dr. Samura Kamara in the case as a vindictive and politically-motivated ploy by the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party ( SLPP ) to try to thwart his ambitions to become the next president of Sierra Leone, come the June elections. Dr. Samura Kamara has from time immemorial denied any involvement in the alleged case, which is in connection with funds for the renovation of the New York Chancery allegedly not being used for the purpose. Dr. Samura Kamara is optimistic that he will be exonerated.
APC supporters in America however plan to use this trip to demonstrate their loyalty to and love for their presidential candidate by giving him a big welcome and also hosting him in two town meetings scheduled for Washington DC and New York. More details will be provided later.
