Minister of Youth Affairs, Hon. Bai Mamoud Bangura, Minister of State 2, Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Madam Isata Kabia and five (5) others on Tuesday, 27th June, 2017, arrived in Beijing for the 2017 Ministerial Workshop on International Cooperation in Capacity Building for Developing Countries, with one (1) person expected on the 28th June, 2017.
During their week long sessions, the team will be meeting with the Chinese Vice Minister of Commerce, Yu Jianhua. Also, Long Guoqiang, the Vice Director, Development Research Center of the State Council is expected to make a presentation on ‘Making Use of Foreign Investment and China’s Economic Development’ on Wednesday, 28th June, 2017.
‘Chinese Leadership’s Governance: New Ideas, New Thinking and New Strategies” will form part of the discussions, on the 29th June, 2017, with Professor Fan Wen from the Chinese Academy of Governance, delivering a keynote speech on the topic.
On 30th June, there will be a round table discussion on ‘Strengthening Partnership and Implementing the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda,’ whilst Chen Deming, President of Association for Relations across the Taiwan Straits and also former Minister of Commerce will be delivering a paper on ‘Industrial Parks, Key to the Economic Take-off of Emerging Countries,’ amongst several other sessions and talks to be delivered.
The two ministers from Sierra Leone shall be presenting papers, with Madam Kabia, Minister of State 2, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation expected to make a statement on strengthening capacity building and implementing the 2030 agenda for sustainable development.
Minister Bangura, who is also Youth League President of the ruling All People’s Congress, and delegation are to meet with the CPC’s Youth League President in due course.
China’s development cooperation model with especially Sierra Leone continues to come in the form of infrastructural growth, support to human resource development coupled with interventions in various sectors.
Trainings and seminars also form core component in sustaining the ties of cooperation between the two republics with dozens of Sierra Leoneans rounding up training or arriving for same.
Other members of the delegation include Suafiatu Habib Tunis, Marian Yombo Conteh, Alieu Malador, Dauda M. Bangura, Aminata Bangura and Alie Conteh, Presidential Youth Aide.
