SATURDAY MARCH 25, 2023 was another remarkable and magnificent milestone for the world-renowned Sierra Leonean Goodwill Ambassador and Consul in Los Angeles , Mrs. Isatu Isha Timbo-Nwokedi, as she walked majestically up the stage, amidst a groundswell of applause at the jammed hall of the City of Light Centre , Silver Spring , Maryland, to receive the WOMAN OF THE YEAR 2023 AWARD from the celebrated organization, I AM THAT WOMAN, which is dedicated to inspiring, motivating and developing the personal and professional lives of women .
Mrs. Timbo-Nwokedi was given the award because of her glittering philanthropic and humanitarian assistance to Sierra Leone and the United States.
The organization, I AM THAT WOMAN was founded and headed by top Sierra Leonean evangelist, preacher and gospel singers , Mrs. Rebecca Arthur Wright of Britain.
Since the early 2000s, Mrs. Timbo-Nwokedi has blazed the path in philanthropic and humanitarian assistance to poor, impoverished and struggling institutions and people by donating containers of medical equipment and medicines to help equip hospitals and health centers in Sierra Leone.
Since the era of the late President Ahmad Tejan Kabbah, whenever her country of birth, Sierra Leone was struck by disasters , especially the Ebola, mudslide and the Corona Virus pandemic , Mrs. Timbo-Nwokedi, who is apolitical and does not belong to any political party , has led the way in providing containers of humanitarian supplies, including food and medicines. She has also constructed a school and is completing a hospital in Sierra Leone.
During Saturday’s posh award ceremony, the founder and President of I AM THAT WOMAN, Mrs. Rebecca Arthur Wright, poured praises on Mrs. Timbo-Nwokedi, and outlined all she has done to benefit organizations, health centres and hospitals and her country, Sierra Leone. She said that her organization was here to recognize and celebrate women like Mrs. Timbo-Nwokedi because we need more of these women. She declared that if the society had more of Mrs. Nwokedi’s type, “Our people will not die in poverty and what is not supposed to kill them will not kill them. ”
Mrs .Timbo-Nwokedi, before she was adorned on the head with a crown , thanked I AM THAT WOMAN for the award given her and said she was driven into her humanitarian work by her love for humankind , compassion for the underprivileged and love for her country. She assured the gathering that she will continue to be a philanthropist , whatever the odds.
