As one campaign promise after the other made by the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party ( SLPP) under the 2018 flagbearership of retired Brigadier Julius Maada Bio continue to fall through the cracks, Sierra Leone is in the midst of a serious electricity crisis and the whole country has been plunged into darkness.
Despite all his promises and showcasing of one energy bonanza plan after the other ( With foreign aid of course ) also continue to turn out to be empty promises, President Maada Bio has failed to address the festering electricity problems in the country and the darkness in the capital, Freetown and cities across the country is affecting everybody and everything —from private homes and business houses to private and public institutions , universities , schools and public safety institutions.
AYV Television in Freetown two days ago invited the Chairman of the Energy Governance Coordination Group, Dr. Kandeh Yumkella, to appraise the nation about the issue and this was what they reported :
The explanation by Dr. Yumkella drew furious responses from members of the public in the social media.
