A Sulaiman Stom Koroma’s Commentary

On the 16th of February, 2025, The Sierra Leonean government confirmed receiving a message from the Guinean authorities regarding a utility vehicle belonging to the Sierra Leone embassy, which was intercepted in Guinea carrying a large quantity of cocaine. The *vehicle was found to be in the possession of the embassy driver and another unidentified individual.*

While the Sierra Leone government has confirmed the arrest of the embassy driver and mentioned the *involvement of a second person, the government has been tight-lipped about the identity of this individual*. The government has yet to clarify whether the second person is a Sierra Leonean or a foreigner, fueling public speculation and concern.

Since the incident, there has been a continuous call from the media for the government to disclose more information regarding the second individual. *Why has the government not told us who this second person is? This secrecy only adds to suspicions and raises concerns about the highly prefilled government officials involved in drug dealing.*

The government’s silence to share details of the second individual’s identity has laid bare suspicions surrounding this cocaine issue. *For some, the government is deliberately withholding information to protect certain individuals. There are also concerns that the second person’s identity might be linked to higher levels of government or influential figures, which could explain the lack of clarity.*

To date, no further updates have been released about the second person’s identity. *For now, the situation remains shrouded in mystery, and Sierra Leoneans are watching closely, awaiting answers.*
