The nation was stunned yesterday to see State House, the seat of power in Sierra Leone, on fire. As seen in the video footage below, it was a fierce fire that threatened to engulf the whole presidential palace.
The cause of the fire was unknown .
The fire incident happened while President Maada Bio, the serial globetrotter, was once again far away from the country and on a trip to Turkey.
The Government of Sierra Leone released the following press statement later:
