The All People’s Congress Georgia Chapter Inaugural Fundraising Ball
The All People’s Congress (A. P. C.) is a Sierra Leonean based political party. The Georgia Chapter of that party is an entity organized by Sierra Leoneans in Georgia to promote their party’s agenda, while attracting direct foreign investment to their country for the benefit of social and economic development. The chapter will be hosting its inaugural fundraising ball on July 30, 2016 at the Jazzy J’s Event Hall, 5134 Old National Highway, College Park, GA 30349.
The event will be featured in four segments: the dinner, the inauguration of the president elects and swearing in/administering of the oath of office of the executive, a fundraiser, and ball dance starting from 8 pm until 4 am EST. There will be a panel of notable and high-powered female speakers. Dr. Zainab Hawa Bangura has consented to serve as Keynote Speaker.
Dr. Bangura is Sierra Leone’s erstwhile Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation; and Minister of Health and Sanitation, having served in the former capacity for three years (2007 – 2010), and in the latter capacity for two years (2010 – 2012). She has over 25 years of policy, diplomatic and practical experience in the fields of governance, human rights, gender justice, conflict resolution and reconciliation, and post conflict reconstruction in Sierra Leone, Africa and the world at large. She is an experienced and result-driven civil society, human rights and women’s right campaigner and democracy activist, who has dedicated her life to fighting corruption and impunity. She has received numerous national and international humanitarian and human rights awards for her life’s work including, but not limited to three Honorary Doctorate Degrees in Law from Ursini College in Pennsylvania, USA, Oxford Brookes University – Oxford, United Kingdom and Aberdeen University – Aberdeen, Scotland, United Kingdom and the Hillary Rodham Clinton Award for Women in Peace and Security from the Institute for Women, Peace and Security at the Georgetown University, Washington DC, USA. In 2014, Dr. Bangura was listed among the Top 100 Global Thinkers by the Foreign Policy Magazine in the USA and was also featured on the 100 Women Profile by the BBC. In 2015, the New Africa Magazine recognized her as one of the 100 most influential Africans.
Honorable Isata Kabia, who is the current Minister of State Minister in the Foreign Affairs and Internal Cooperation in Sierra Leone will give highlights on President Koroma’s agenda and the current economic development of Sierra Leone, whilst Honorable Dr. Sylvia Blyden, Minister of Social Welfare, Gender and Children’s Affairs will highlight issues of the past Ebola epidemic in Sierra Leone and state what kind of measures have been currently adopted by the government to prevent a recurrence of the epidemic.
His Excellency, Ambassador Bockari Stevens will be forming part of the high-powered delegation.
The Georgia chapter has been one of the most active chapters in the United States of America Diaspora since 2005, prior to electing the leader of the APC party, His Excellency Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma as the current President of the Republic of Sierra Leone.
