VIDEO : DEPUTY INFORMATION MINISTER THEO. NICOL HOLDS SUCCESSFUL MEETING IN NEW JERSEY

 

 The Deputy Minister of Information and Communications, Mr. Theo. Nicol, yesterday held a successful town hall-like meeting and dialogue with Sierra Leonean residents in New Jersey on pertinent governance, social and economic issues in Sierra Leone, especially the constitution review and President Ernest Koroma’s Agenda For Prosperity.

The important meeting drew stakeholders and heads and members of key political and social organizations in New Jersey and one of the organizers of the program, Min. Plenipotentiary ( Your humble servant ) described the attendees as the CREAM OF THE NEW JERSEY SOCIETY . Represented were the umbrella Sierra Leone Community of New Jersey ( SLCNJ ), Sarbeh, Tegloma, and of course the two leading political parties, the ruling APC and the opposition SLPP. Religious leaders were also present.

Minister Theo. Nicol gave a detailed presentation on the constitution review and the imperative of the exercise which is to make governance and the system more democratic and accountable to her citizens and to correct the many flaws manifest in the constitution . He dispelled the misrepresentation by detractors of the reasons for the exercise. The Minister also took his time to give a comprehensive discussion of the Agenda For Prosperity and Government’s blueprint for the improvement of education, health delivery services , the infrastructure and the welfare of the general populace. New Jerseyans have now been told that there is no iota of truth in the rumors being spread by detractors of the government that President Koroma wants to stay for a third term .

At the end of his presentation, an interesting period of Questions-and-answers followed, during which the Minister addressed attendeees’ questions about burning issues affecting the country .
