His Excellency, Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma has officially designated his able and trusted Vice President of the Republic of Sierra Leone, Ambassador Dr. Victor Bockarie Foh to represent him at the 8th Summit of the African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) Group of States to be held in Port Moresby, the capital city of the Pacific State of Papua New Guinea from May 30th – June 1st.
The President could not attend the Summit due to other official engagements back home and has therefore mandated his able lieutenant to lead an eight-man delegation comprising the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Dr. Samura M W Kamara; Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Belgium with accreditation to the ACP, Hon. Ibrahim Sorie; Dr. Jengo Stevens; Ambassador Soriba Kanu; Mrs Margaret Matturi; Mr. Manso E. Samura; Alimatu Fofanah (Press) and Osman Sesay (ADC).
The Summit, with the Theme, “Repositioning the ACP Group to respond to challenges of Sustainable Development”, will be preceded by a joint meeting of the ACP Council of Ministers and ACP Ministers of Foreign Affairs.
It would be recalled that at the 7th Summit of the ACP Heads of State and Government held in December, 2012 in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, the independent Pacific State of Papua New Guinea graciously consented to host the 8th Summit of the ACP Heads of State in the capital city of Port Moresby.
The current President-in-office of the Summit, HE Mr. Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo will hand over to the incoming President of the Summit, HE Mr. Peter O’neill, Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea.
