The Honorable Vice President Dr Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh has just engaged a cross section of Sierra Leoneans that were escorted to the Guinea-Sierra Leone border by Guinean authorities from Conakry.

While expressing Government’s dissatisfaction over the situation, the Hon. Vice President Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh reassured them of mechanisms that have been put in place to cater for them and assured them of their security.

Prior to the engagement, the Hon. VP held a close door meeting with the security sector team responsible for managing the situation at the border town.

Following series of raids in popular slums and suburbs in the Conakry region, thousands of people were arrested and dislodged including well over 300 young Sierra Leoneans who ended up being escorted to the border town of Pamelap.

Reports from the Sierra Leone Embassy in Conakry state that, no Sierra Leonean national was arrested and imprisoned as a result of the raids and all those involved have been peacefully escorted and handed over to the authorities at the border.

A team was set up at the boder post to provide security and welfare support including transportation to take them to their respective communities.

Sources at the border town have indicated that, majority of them are finding their way back to Conakry.

Meanwhile, during a verification exercise, it was discovered that, some of the people escorted to the border town of Pamelap by the Guinean authorities are not even Sierra Leonean nationals.
