WAFU Women’s Tournament: Sierra Queens Arrive in Cape Verde

Sierra Queens delegation headed by Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) Executive Committee member, Ramatu Kamara, who doubles as Head of Sierra Leone Women’s Football, arrived safely in Sal, Cape Verde on Thursday morning and checked in at the Melia Dunas hotel.

As the stage is set for the West Africa Football Union Zone ‘A’ Women’s Tournament, Sierra Leone have been drawn alongside defending champions, Senegal, The Gambia and Guinea in Group B whilst the hosts, Cape Verde were drawn with Mauritania and Guinea Bissau.

The opening ceremony will feature Cape Verde and Guinea Bissau on Friday 20th January, 2023 and Sierra Leone will kickoff their campaign against The Gambia on Saturday 21st January at Stadium Marcelo Leitao at 5pm.

 

Meanwhile, the two top teams from each group will qualify to the semi-finals.
