PRESIDENT BIO’S FALL WILL BE DRAMATIC
President Maada Bio of Sierra Leone is setting himself and supporters up for a tragic fall that will shake the world. The more despotic they are, the harder they fall.
We learn that, despite the objections of the EU (who withdrew from the exercise ) and the international community, the despotic and stubborn President has gone on and conducted a fake census. Fake population figures are about to be announced , plus two new Mende Districts, PANGUMA and BANDAJUMA , to create more seats and votes for the SLPP . And Osman Sankoh ( Malam O) , a once innocent and humble academic, now intoxicated by political power, is a ring leader in this charade.
No African president has ever been as stubborn as President Bio and gotten away with it. They all paid a dire price. Cue Emperor Haile Selassie, Idi Amin, Samuel Doe, Mohamed Morsi, Mobutu Sese Sekou, Macias Nguema, Hissene Habre, Habib Bourguiba, Jean-Bédel Bokassa, Pascal Lissouba etc. etc.
Right now, President Bio has hijacked the opposition APC through a fake High Court Judge with dubious law degree and no legal qualifications, ADRIAN FISHER , who has dismissed the whole executive and imposed a puppet administration that will probably provide a flagbearer for the APC of Bio’s choice.
The hypocritical international community are watching and doing nothing, though the U.S. State Department continues to highlight these abuses by President Bio in its annual reports. They are repeating the same mistakes they made in Liberia, Rwanda, Burundi, DR Congo, Kosovo, Central African Republic, Mali, Burkina Faso etc. They always wait until it is too late.
Bio has massacred innocent youths at Tombo, Lunsar, Mile 91, Tonko Limba , Makeni and the Pademba Road Prisons and he thinks he has gotten away with it. But the blood of these innocent Sierra Leoneans continue to cry out from the grave.
Meanwhile, life continues to be very difficult and painful for ordinary Sierra Leoneans. While government officials, including
President Bio and his flamboyant wife, Fatima, continue to flaunt their new-found wealth, with corruption very rife and tribalism and nepotism topping the charts, there is no light in the capital and some major cities. No light, no water; fuel is scarce. Prices of food and basic commodities have gone through the roof. How Sierra Leoneans manage to provide one square meal a day is the stuff of miracles.
Recently, young mothers died at childbirth in the capital because there was no electricity. Yet, President Bio has set structures in place to rig the forthcoming elections and impose himself on the people.
Maada Bio’s downfall will be the most cataclysmic event ever in Sierra Leone. Just let him rig the 2023 elections. Sierra Leoneans, from history, don’t talk too much. Sierrra Leoneans just act.
We journalists always warn of oncoming problems but we get the stick for being “foretellers of doom”, but our prognostics always come true, eventually. Bio’s tribal supporters are very loud on social media, defending his atrocities and at times even mocking victims, but this is what will make the fall of the president more traumatic.
President Bio will fall. No despotic and murderous leader has escaped the fall in Africa. It is just a matter of time.
President Bio will fall. And what a fall it will be.
