SLPP SEC. GEN. IN NEW JERSEY DENIES RIFT IN PARTY BRANCH

SLPP SEC. GEN. IN NEW JERSEY DENIES RIFT IN PARTY BRANCH

Saturday May 13, 2006

The Sierra Leone People’s Party ( SLPP) Branch in New Jersey is not divided, the Secretary General , Brima Alpha ,  yesterday told COCORIOKO  in an apparently angry response to reports by this newspaper to the contrary.

Last week, a political insider informed COCORIOKO  that the high-powered SLPP  delegation which has been in the United States for a week now wil face stormy sessions in New Jersey trying to unite the branch, which we learnt was one of the most controversial .We also learnt that Brima Alpha himself caused some of the confusion by calling today’s meeting a convention , a misnomer that angered many party fanatics in the U.S.

Yesterday , Alpha sent us this letter , which we publish unedited :

First_Name:  Brima
Last_Name:  Alpha

Address:  10 Regency Manor Drive

Comments:  Dear Mr. Editor,
I am the secretary general for New Jersey SLPP Chapter. I am really disappointed at the article you wrote about our Chapter that we are divided.

I Believe that you know few people in New Jersy, if not you can contact me or the Chairman of our branch Mr Jerry George about any information you want to get. Please cross check your facts before publishing nformation you get from distractors. Our Party chapter is the most organized branch in the United States and we does everything as a team.

There might be one or two people disgruntled for one reason or another but to be honest we are well organized and respect each other. About the word convention and meeting, again people just want to be notice in the political process but it does not really matter much if we call our historic gathering convention or meeting. Our main objective is to get all Chapters togather as SLPP North America and Canada branch. This is just another example of what the distractors want to acheive but SLPP will prevail. This is the only way out. Once again, please check your facts by contacting members especially the executives of the individual branches. We always welcome constructive journalism therefore respect us as sierra leoneans working towards the development of our beloved country. You can contact me any time by telephone 732-317-1878 or by e-mail.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Brima Alpha
