The end of democracy as a nation succumbed to dictatorship.
Even by the absence of the APC MPs, if Sierra Leone is not succumbing to a dictatorship, the SLPP MPs should have voted against the removal of the suspended Auditor general and her deputy, Tamba Momoh, because they acted in the best interest of the country when their auditing exposed financial fraud in the president’s travel expenditure.
That MPs voted in favour, means that citizens could no longer rely on the legislature to defend them against the wrongful act of the Executive led by President Bio.
As a matter of curiosity, why did APC MPs leave the country. Were they given brown envelopes to abstain? Because, it’s easy for them to have hurriedly return to Sierra Leone from Gambia and Nigeria within a day to vote.
For parliament to vote in favour of the removal is the gravest trivasty of justice.
There is no statement in the handpicked tribunal report set up by president Bio that Lara Taylor Pearce had committed professional misconduct.
Lara Taylor Pearce is a respected accountant and she is a member of a professional body, which have prescribed code of professional practices and disciplinary procedures, with the authority to adjudicate where their member falls foul of professional conduct.
This organisation had confirmed that Lara Taylor Pearce and Tamba Momoh acted within the professional rules laid down. In other words, they did not commit any professional misconduct.
MPs going ahead on the specific instruction of President Bio and removed one of the greatest national assets Lara Taylor Pearce and her deputy from office marked a painful bizarre chapter for a nation that has been deeply corrupted and leading to a dictatorship.
