Sierra Leone’s First Lady Fatima Bio has social media activist Hawa Hunt freed from jail

First Lady Fatima Bio ordered the release from jail of social media activist, Hawa Hunt, who had been detained and charged with allegedly insulting Ptesident Maada Bio and the very First Lady on social media, contrary to  the Cybersecurity and Crime Act 2021.

On her release yesterday, she wrote the letter below to the first Lady thanking her for facilitating her release :

Dear First Lady Fatima Maada Bio

I am writing to express my heartfelt gratitude for your compassionate and courageous intervention in pleading for my release. I fully acknowledge the gravity of my mistakes and am committed to learning from them. Your exemplary leadership and nurturing spirit inspire me deeply, and you serve as a remarkable role model not only to me but to many.

I also sincerely pray that Allah accepts your fasting and sacrifices during this holy month of Ramadan as you took the bold step to speak on my Release.
