BREAKING!!! SLP Arrests 10 Suspects for Armed Robbery and Forgery Offences.
Freetown, 22 July 2025 — The Sierra Leone Police have arrested ten suspects across various locations in Freetown for illegal possession of firearms and involvement in the production of counterfeit currency and forged documents.
The coordinated operation, conducted between 19th and 21st July 2025, resulted in arrests in Kissy, Tengbeh Town, MacDonald, and Sumaila Town. During the raids, police officers uncovered a cache of arms and ammunition, alongside computer equipment used to manufacture counterfeit banknotes and fraudulent documents.
The suspects were found in possession of forged New Le20 banknotes, fake police clearance certificates, counterfeit university degrees purportedly from the Institute of Public Administration and Management (IPAM), as well as fabricated West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results.
Further investigations revealed that the suspects were also engaged in producing fake European visas for individuals seeking to travel abroad under false pretences.
One of the suspects reportedly confessed that the operation had been ongoing for a considerable period before it was dismantled by the police.
The Sierra Leone Police have launched a full-scale investigation to determine the extent of the criminal network and to ensure that all individuals involved are brought to justice.
