The Chinese Ambassador to Sierra Leone, Zhao Yanbo has assured the nation that the much-talked -about Mamamah International Airport will be built. The Ambassador was speaking during the Chinese New Year celebration held on Tuesday last at the country’s Embassy in Freetown.
The Chinese envoy also named many more impressive projects that his country will complete in Sierra Leone.

The projects include a West Africa Tropical Disease Research Centre , which will serve the sub-continent in helping to promote medical research. The Ambassador also disclosed that ten more Chinese doctors are on the way to Sierra Leone and will start work at the Jui Sino-Sierra Leone Friendship Hospital where they will perform major surgical operations.

The Chinese Ambassador went on to assure the nation that “A Chinese medical team in town doing feasibility studies with the Military 34 Hospital as we intend to construct P3 Biosafety Lab for them as they did very well during the ebola crisis.”
Ambassador Yanbo also shared the good news that three hydro power stations in Charlotte, Port Loko and Makali, are nearing completion and will start generating electricity in Sierra Leone this year, and that two more modern highways will be constructed by his country.
Ambassador Yanbo assured guests at the function that China “will not relent, and will continue to work with Sierra Leone and because we trust the friendship between the two countries, we will make sure other projects are identified and completed .”
This latest good news about the Mamamah International Airport, especially, will be very pleasing to the Government and people of Sierra Leone as it is one of the pet and flagship programs of President Ernest Bai Koroma.
