Human rights abuses worsen in Sierra Leone, as Deputy Health Minister, PS and CMO beat up female doctor, sparking doctors’ strike

Human rights violations in Sierra Leone under the President Maada Bio SLPP Government took another turn into the abys when a Deputy Health Minister , Anthony Sandi, along with his Permanent Secretary Morie Momoh and the Chief Medical Officer Dr. T.T. Samba , badly assaulted a female medical doctor at the Connaught Hospital in Freetown yesterday.

The government minister and the other officials beat up Dr Catherine Jackson-Cole for filming the protest of cleaners at the hospital who were on strike for poor working conditions.

JUNIOR DOCTORS AT THE HOSPITAL RESPONDED IMMEDIATELY BY GOING ON A STRIKE AND SAID THEY WILL NOT RETURN TO WORK UNTIL THE MINISTER, PERMANENT SECRETARY AND CMO WERE DISMISSED .

The age-old and dilapidated hospital looked like a garbage dump following the cleaners’ strike.

According to the cleaners , they have not been paid for 12 months by contractors responsible for cleaning the hospital, but the contractors heaped the blame on the SLPP Government which has not paid them for 15 months.
