Though doubts and recriminations surround claims by Dr.Samura Kamara’s bloggers and supporters that ECOMOG are coming to overthrow Bio and install Kamara as President, there seem to be ominous signs that the deployment of ECOMOG in Sierra Leone will not be free of controversy.
Despite all the hype by bloggers and rabble- rousing social media fanatics of Samura Kamara over Sunday September 15, 2024 ( which they had already dubbed REDEMPTION DAY ) as the date that ECOMOG will land in Sierra Leone and remove President Bio from power, the multinational stabilizing force did not only fail to arrive ; Placard- holding supporters who were at Lungi International Airport to welcome the force were arrested by Maada Bio’s security officers, clearly demonstrating the sad reality that the Tripartite Agreement of National Unity had not changed Maada Bio one bit from the tyrant and dictator he has always been.
Pictures on social media of the Samura Kamara activists being arrested were very troubling as they also showed that Bio was neither respecting nor moving with the spirit of the Tripartite agreement to restore democracy or bring peace to the country. It is like Bio and ECOWAS are moving in two opposite directions.
The arrests resurrected the warning Cocorioko had been giving. Though our Publisher, Ambassador Kabs Kanu , was misunderstood by his own APC people and soundly abused on social media for correcting people spreading false information that ECOMOG was coming specifically to overthrow President Bio, the fact remains that Bio could create his own storm that would make ECOMOG move against him.
BIO is a very crazy bush man, who has no respect for law or agreements. He fully understands ECOMOG ‘s mission to Sierra Leone but he might not respect the right of ECOMOG to be in Sierra Leone and might make the biggest mistake of his life to try to hinder their work or fight them , which could lead to his outster.
Those who love Bio should issue him a very stern warning . Though ECOWAS might not be sending ECOMOG specially to overthrow him, Bio himself might do crazy, uncivilized things and this might change the dynamics spectacularly. Let Bio send out his killer troops to kill innocent , protesting Sierra Leoneans again and provoke a conflict between his bushman soldiers and ECOMOG, who have a mandate to protect civilians and defend human rights. He will know that his ugly nose is perched right above his big mouth.
As we eagerly await the deployment of ECOMOG troops, it is becoming increasingly clear that Bio is not happy with the coming of ECOMOG . Bio wants to continue his bushman tactics and governing Sierra Leone like his fiefdom and this might provoke a confrontation between him and the multinational force. We await to see the political drama about to unfold in Sierra Leone.
