The market stalls of the women of Abacha Street , Freetown , were destroyed this morning by supporters of the Sierra Leone People’s Party ( SLPP ) , a day after the National Elections Commission ( NEC ) controversially declared them winners of the presidential run off, and their flag bearer , Brig. Maada Bio sworn in as President.
Market women largely supported the All People’s Congress ( APC ) during the elections.
These videos and the statements made by social media activists say it all.
Riot also broke out between SLPP supporters on the rampage and the Police in Kenema

I strongly condemn the abrupt destruction of ECONOMIC LIVELIHOOD of lower income WOMEN last night by thugs supporting the ruling SLPP Government of President Julius Maada Bio. The destruction of market stalls and threats against those poor women who are their families' breadwinners is just sickening! And it appears to have well organised undertones. It was not a spontaneous event.
