_‼️In a profound display of leadership and compassion, Charles Mambu, the Executive Director of Health For All Coalition Sierra Leone and Head of the Sierra Leone Consortium of Civil Society Organizations, visited the Gbalamuya Border Customs Base on December 12, 2024. His mission was to uncover the truth behind the growing social media reports of Sierra Leoneans deported from Guinea’s slum areas, now stranded and struggling to survive‼️._

_‼️During his visit, Executive Director Charles Mambu engaged key security stakeholders, including the LUC, the CO of the 11 Infantry Battalion, and the ONS District Coordinator in Kambia District, to gather firsthand information. While commending their efforts to manage the situation, he noted the severe resource limitations they face in addressing the needs of the displaced population‼️_.

_‼️Executive Director Charles Mambu also met with a cross-section of the deportees, who shared heartbreaking stories of their plight. Many are enduring severe hunger, lack of shelter, and critical medical needs. Their testimonies painted a grim picture of suffering and hopelessness, with pleas for immediate intervention from the government, the International Organization for Migration (IOM), and humanitarian organizations_‼️.

_”‼️These people are not just statistics; they are human beings with dignity and rights,” Mambu remarked. “The government and relevant agencies must act swiftly to provide food, shelter, and medical support to these vulnerable citizens._‼️”

_‼️The deportees’ plight has sparked widespread concern, highlighting the urgent need for coordinated action to alleviate their suffering. Mambu’s bold move to leave Freetown and witness the situation firsthand has drawn praise, reaffirming his commitment to advocacy and justice.‼️_
