This is not necessarily unified, deliberate global consensus against Africa democracy but rather a result of complex and often conflicting International policies historical legacies and economic interests.

*Key arguments and contributing factors  include :

1. *Geopolitical* *and* *Economic* *Interests* : International powers, including Western Nations such as China and Russia often prioritize their own strategy, security or economic interests (such as access to natural resources) over the promotion of genuine democratic governance. This can lead to support for stable but authoritarian regimes that protect this interests, rather than more unpredictable democratic systems
2. *Support* *for* *Authoritarian* *Regimes* : In some cases external actors have historically, and sometimes currently provided financial, military and political supports to dictators and one party systems believing them to be better at maintaining ” *Stability* ” and a favourable economic environment than new democracies.
3. *Neocolonialism* *and* *Economic* *Exploitation* : Critics argue that some International Economic Policies, Trade Regimes and Aid conditions imposed by International bodies like the IMF or World Bank can perpetuate economic dependency and inequality, which in turn weakens local Institutions and makes them susceptible to corruption and elite captures, undermining the foundations of a functional democracy.
4. *Foreign* *Interference* *and* *Information* *Manipulation* : External actors have engaged in foreign information manipulation and Interference (FIMI) activities such as funding aligned political actors Co_opting local media and spreading disinformation to influence and reinforce the favor of authoritarian learning leaders.
5. *Inconsistent* *Democracy* *Promotion* : Western Nations have faced criticism for applying inconsistent standards to their democracy. They may condemn democratic backsliding in one country while overlooking similar issues in another country where they have significant interests, leading to a loss of moral high ground and public confidence in their intentions.
6. *Colonial* *Legacy* : The historical legacy of Colonialism which often involved the dismantling of traditional political structures and imposition of harsh, centralized rule, created weak state institutions after independence, making the transition to sustainable democracy inherently difficult.
7. *The* ” *Resource* *Curse* “: The reliance on Natural Resource Exports often creates a situation where a small ruling elites can secures direct funding from foreign Companies or governments, bypassing the need for a social contact with the broader population__such as through taxation thus reducing accountability and fostering a disconnect between leaders and citizens of the state.

Ultimately, the challenges to sustainable in AFRICA are a combination of complex internal factors__such as weak institutions, corruption and social inequality and external pressures that can prioritize stability and economic access over geniue democratic development.
