U.S AMBASSADOR CLARIFIES SIERRA LEONE VISA BAN ISSUE
By Kabs Kanu
Ambassador Brian Hunt has clarified the visa ban issue.
1. There is no visa ban on Sierra Leone and any country presently .
2. The Trump government did issue an executive order asking the State Department and partner the Department of Home Security partners to work out ways to secure the U.S borders and to ensure that their visas process is not used for illegal immigration . It is in a deliberative process presently.
3. No decision has been made yet.
THE OTHER SIDE OF THE STORY ( Not from the Ambassador )
The New York Times reported on the proposed ban and the list of countries. They said they got their information from an anonymous source within the White House who told them that the list was provided by the State Department and sent to the White House for deliberation and approval.
4.The New York Times is one of the most credible newspapers in the world. It is inconceivable that they will sit down and frame a fake story on an important issue like this. Ambassador Hunt did not debunk the New York Times story as false. What he said was that social media picks up many information from different places.
5. The New York Times has not revised or rescinded their report at this time.
6. My advice is let us wait and see what happens. But even the New York Times did insinuate that the list was not conclusive and that it is not certain whether there could be changes or not. The final decision is with the White House, the paper said.
HOWEVER, IN THIS VIDEO SEEN BELOW, A STATE DEPARTMENT OFFICIAL SAYS THE BAN IS REAL
