WIMAGE IS ALL SET TO OBSERVE SIERRA LEONE’S ELECTIONS TODAY

By Kabs Kanu – Public Relations Officer

The United States-based international elections monitoring and observer group, Women Auditing and Monitoring Global Elections ( WIMAGE ), is fully engaged and prepared to observe today’s all-important General Elections in Sierra Leone.

Sierra Leone will be conducting presidential, parliamentary, and council elections today in polls expected to impact heavily on the socio-economic and political direction this West African country will be heading in the coming years.

President Julius Maada Bio of the Sierra Leone People’s Party ( SLPP), who came to power five years ago, is seeking re-election against the same candidate who was his primary challenger in 2018, Dr. Samura Kamara of the largest opposition party in the country, the All People’s Congress ( APC ). Both men and their supporters have demonstrated tremendous confidence and determination to win.

Wimage, who also monitored the elections in Kenya last year and Nigeria this year, has already trained volunteers for the work and will be deployed throughout the country today.
