Ambassador Kamara presents his Letters of Credence

 

His Excellency, Mr. Osman Keh Kamara, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Sierra Leone to the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia on Wednesday 19th June 2014 presented Copies of his Letters of Credence to the Minister of State of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Berhane Gebre-Christos announcing the commencement of his duties in the Continental capital of Africa.

Presenting the copies to the Minister of State, Ambassador Kamara said he was delighted and honoured, adding that he sees himself as being privileged to have started work as Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia. “Your country offers me a significant opportunity which I will use to discuss regional, continental and global issues ranging from security, human rights to socio-economic development,” he stated.

Ambassador Kamara further expressed satisfaction and appreciation to the Government of Ethiopia for the strong cooperation between the countries.

He stated that he felt exceedingly humbled by the reception he received thus hoping to have a fruitful working relationship with the Government and people of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia during his tour of duty in Addis Ababa.

The Minister of State of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Berhane Gebre-Christos expressed his profound appreciation in receiving the incoming Envoy of Sierra Leone. He informed Ambassador Kamara of the long standing bilateral relations that have existed between Ethiopia and Sierra Leone over the years.

He assured Ambassador Kamara of his personal support and the willingness of the Government of Ethiopia to further strengthen the already existing cordial bilateral relations between the two sister countries.

The Minister of State also spoke about climate change and water supply as key challenges facing his Government.

“The problem of water supply in the country has also been a daunting one but my Government is trying to ensure that our people are adequately catered for,” he said.

The Minister further extended his sincere greetings to His Excellency, the President, Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma of the Republic of Sierra Leone through Ambassador Kamara and assured him of his cooperation at all times.

In his closing remarks, Ambassador Kamara thanked the Minister of State for the kind sentiments expressed about his country and Government and also assured the Minister of his Government’s continued cooperation between the two countries.

The ceremony was also attended by the Deputy Head of Mission, Mr. Ismael Koroma, the Minister Counsellor and Head of Chancery, Mr. Ibrahim Kondoh and the Second Secretary, Mr. Victor Kamara of the Embassy of the Republic of Sierra Leone in Addis Ababa.
