Another huge diamond in Sierra leone : Trustco Resources announces 476 carat diamond discovery at Meya mine

ย

The diamond was discovered in an area spanning from the Kamara Gbense to the Tankoroย chiefdoms in Kono District, Sierra Leone (Kono District).

Trustco is pleased to advise Trustco shareholders (shareholders) that Meya Mining (Meya), has discovered a 476 caratย diamond.

An initial assessment indicates that this 476 carat diamond find is the 29th largest diamond ever discovered.

Anyย value indication of the diamond is pure speculation at this stage as the diamond has not yetย been examined and assessed by the necessary experts.

It is Meyaโ€™s intention to sell theย diamond through an international auction.

In addition, two other special diamonds of 19.70ย caratsย and 27.93 carats were discovered onย the same day in the Kono District.

Meya is in the process of completing its Resource Statementย over the Kono District.

Historical overview

Trustco Resources acquired a 51% interest in Meya miningย in November 2017.

Meya holds a four year exclusiveย diamond exploration licence EL: 07/2015 (the licence) over an area comprising ofย 130.38 kmยฒ, a kimberlite concession spanning from the Kamara, Gbense to theย Tankoro chiefdoms in Kono District, Sierra Leone.

The remaining 49% interest inย Meya is held by Germinate Sierra Leone (Germinate), the original licenceย holder.

Germinate is a 100% Sierra Leonean owned company. The relations betweenย Namibiaย and Sierra Leone dateย back to the days of the liberation struggle.

Sierra Leone was one of the Westย African countries that assistedย SWAPO(South West Africa Peopleโ€™s Organisation),ย the ruling party in Namibia, not just financially and diplomatically, but also withย the development of the countryโ€™s human capital.

During the 1970โ€™s and 1980โ€™sย many young Namibians who went into exile, were offered a โ€œhome away fromย homeโ€ living with โ€œfosterโ€ parents and attending school in Sierra Leone.

Amongย them was the honourable Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila, currently the Primeย Minister of Namibia, and many others who now serve as senior civil servantsย in Namibia.

Whilst there is limited bilateral cooperation and trade between Namibia andย Sierra Leone today, the individuals that once called both countries ‘home’,ย preserve and respect the historical bond that exists and are working togetherย to strengthen bilateral relations.

Cooperation between these two countries willย gain momentum once the Namibian High Commission in the Republic ofย Ghanaย becomes fully operational and Meya mine is in full production.
