The Secretary-General of the United Nations, Mr. Kofi Annan, has paid a one-day working visit to Sierra Leone. On arrival at the Lungi International Airport on Sunday 2nd July 2006, Mr. Annan was received by Cabinet Ministers, Officials of the United Nations in Freetown and other government officials.
After an official reception at the United Nations Integrated Office in Sierra Leone on Monday July 3rd 2006, Mr. Kofi Annan was received by His Excellency President Ahmad Tejan Kabbah at the State House at 12 noon, where he addressed a cross-section of Ministers and government officials.
During the meeting, President Kabbah expressed gratitude for all assistance rendered to Sierra Leone by the Secretary-General and the United Nations, particularly the role of the United Nations Mission in Sierra Leone (UNAMSIL) in their peace keeping operations.
