One cannot help but love the way the U.S is constructively engaged in Liberia. They are helping to ensure good governance, transparency, accountability , human rights and respect for the constitution and the Rule of Law. Liberia is therefore exceeding expectations as a post- conflict country.
Sierra Leone does not enjoy such a blessing. Britain is more focused on protecting their best interests . Because of this, Sierra Leone is heading back to war .
The government in power is violating human rights, the constitution, the rule of law and the tenets of democracy with impunity and only the EU, on occasion, challenges them. The UN representative resident in Freetown speaks out once in a while. Sierra Leone’s
President Maada Bio is a replica of Samuel K. Doe. We are using every platform to bring this to the notice of the stakeholders and moral guarantors of peace and stability in West Africa. All is not going well in Sierra Leone and there is a potential that we could go back to war because of President Maada Bio’s repressive and tribalistic rule. Let the world be warned. All is not well in Sierra Leone. The U.S State Department Country Report highlighted all these issues and more but the international community is playing a hypocritical game in Sierra Leone.
