Former All People’s Congress ( APC ) Government Spokesman, Mr. Agibu Tejan-Jalloh yesterday called COCORIOKO to state emphatically that the APC should be preparing right now for holding lower-level elections in readiness for a National Convention and eventual flagbearer election.
Seemingly differing from party big whigs who have recently been heard endorsing the APC flagbearer for the 2018 elections which the party lost. Dr. Samura Kamara and one of his likely opponent at the next flagbearership election in preparation for the 2023 Presidential Elections., Alhaji Chief Samuel Sam-Sumana, Agibu Jalloh drummed home the fact that the next flagbearer of the APC should be elected transparently at the next National Delegates Conference.
The eloquent former Government Spokesman told COCORIOKO that, the APC’s focus right now should not be on the flagbearer per se, but rather on what will inform and support the election of national Executives and eventual presidential flagbearer (lower level conventions). Agibu Jalloh strongly asserted that “The APC’s focus should right now be on holding lower-level elections ( Zonal, Constituency, District and Regional ). These elections will form the delegates’ strength that is required for electing our national executive officers and eventual flagbearer. ”
Mr. Tejan-Jalloh pointed out that a presidential flagbearership election at the National Delegates Conference is a must and postured that “If you are not popular enough to attract the popular votes coming from the APC delegates, then for sure you are not popular among the voters in Sierra Leone.
Mr. Tejan-Jalloh reminded APC officials and supporters that the next presidential elections will be very crucial for the destiny of the nation and the present Head of State, President Maada Bio will be enjoying the power of incumbency; therefore, for the APC, IT IS A QUESTION OF WHO IS THE FITTEST CANDIDATE TO CHALLENGE PRESIDENT BIO. LET THE PROCESS BE TRANSPARENT, FAIR AND CREDIBLE (accepted by the majority). We must resist “selection” with all our might comrades.
