A new political party has been formed in Sierra Leone .It is called the Coalition of Political Parties ( CPP) . With barely sixย months left to the elections, a provisional registration certificate was yesterdayย granted to the newย political party by the Political Parties Registration Commission in Freetown. The Interim leader is Andrew Turay , formerly of the YPP. ย

Erstwhile lead contestant for the leadershipย of the dormant United National Peoplesโ Party ( UNPP)ย and also United Kingdom and Northern Ireland branch Chairman,ย Mr. Mohamed Ben Kamara,ย yesterday said in Freetown that the Sierra Leone Peoples Party is the only united and organized democratic political party in the country.ย

Kamara made the pronouncement at a news conference held at the SLPP National Secretariat in Freetown to make his defection to the ruling party public.

At a ceremony held at the SLPP National Secretariat in Freetown, Mohamed Ben Kamara told the gathering of newsmen and party stalwarts : โThe SLPP is the only united democratic political party so give us the chance so that we can continue to open the gate for development in Sierra Leone. ”
